KMP Putri Yasmin Victim Data Not Yet Final, 173 People Recorded

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said that 173 people have been provisionally recorded in the KMP Putri Yasmin fire incident in the Lombok Strait, while the data collection and search process is still ongoing.

“So far, 173 have been recorded. Later, there may be vessels arriving carrying victims, which we will record again as additional data,” said Dudy at Lembar Port, West Lombok, on Wednesday.

KMP Putri Yasmin caught fire while sailing from Padangbai Port, Bali, to Lembar Port, Lombok, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Dudy said the government will open a complaint service centre for members of the public who have family members believed to have been on the voyage but have not yet been recorded.

“For members of the public who feel that their relatives were on this voyage, we will open a call centre or complaint service,” he said.

According to him, public and family reports are needed to help confirm the number of people on board the vessel and serve as a reference for the joint SAR team in conducting the search.

Dudy said the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has seven days to carry out search and rescue operations in accordance with applicable regulations.

“According to the rules, Basarnas has seven days to conduct search and rescue operations,” he said.

The search operation is being carried out in an integrated manner involving Basarnas and a number of relevant maritime elements.

Dudy asked the public and victims’ families to support the data collection process so that the number of people on board KMP Putri Yasmin at the time of the incident can be confirmed.
