KMP Mutiara Sentosa II Victims Evacuated to Tanjung Perak Port

Surabaya (ANTARA) - Joint search and rescue (SAR) teams are continuing to evacuate victims of the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II fire to land, specifically to Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, East Java. Head of the Surabaya SAR Office (Basarnas), Nanang Sigit, stated on Monday that since the early hours, the joint SAR team has been receiving survivors and deceased victims evacuated in stages to Tanjung Perak Port. One of the vessels, the Selaras Mas, docked at Tanjung Perak Port carrying 13 surviving passengers from the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II. Additionally, five of the nine people previously evacuated by the KN SAR 249 Permadi via Kalianget Port have also arrived in Surabaya. A survivor who was earlier found by fishermen was also brought to Surabaya. Eight survivors were immediately taken to Gapura Surya Nusantara for medical examination and identity verification. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were evacuated to Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Hospital in Surabaya for further identification. At 08.40 WIB, the Indonesian Navy warship KRI Nala-363 docked at the Koarmada II Pier, carrying 30 survivors and two deceased victims. The survivors underwent health checks and data collection at Gapura Surya Nusantara, while the two bodies were immediately sent to the hospital. KN SAR 249 Permadi departed again from Kalianget Port at 08.15 WIB heading to the incident site to continue the search as per the SAR operation plan. As of Monday morning, the joint SAR team has evacuated 234 people on board the KMP Mutiara Sentosa II. A total of 229 people were found alive, while five were found dead. The SAR operation involves the Surabaya Class A SAR Office, the Indonesian Navy’s Koarmada II, the Main Harbour Master’s Office of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya VTS, Surabaya SROP, Kalianget KSOP, Kalianget SROP, East Java Police, Sumenep Police, Sumenep Satpolairud, Pelindo, BMKG, East Java BPBD, Sumenep BPBD, Surabaya BPBD, the Transportation Agency, Sumenep Satpol PP, and Rumah Zakat. In addition, several vessels in the vicinity of the incident site are also assisting, including the Meratus Pematang Siantar, Meratus Project 3, TB Hasnur 26, Prakarsa Mas, Transco Arafura, SC Aila XVII, Alcon Daniel, and Selaras Mas.
