KMP Jatra I and Portlink 0 Deployed to Ease Ketapang-Gilimanuk Congestion
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has deployed two auxiliary ferries in the Bali Strait to ease vehicle congestion around the Ketapang and Gilimanuk ports. The congestion was triggered by dock infrastructure repair works in the port area.
The two vessels deployed are KMP Jatra I and KMP Portlink 0. Both have been dispatched to Tanjung Wangi since Saturday (5/9/2026) and are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday (8/9/2026).
Upon arrival at Tanjung Wangi, KMP Jatra I will immediately strengthen services on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing. Meanwhile, KMP Portlink 0 is on standby to serve the Tanjung Wangi-Lembar route via Gili Mas Port.
“This arrangement is part of a route network optimisation strategy to increase service capacity, while helping to reduce vehicle volume pressure on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing,” said General Manager of ASDP Ketapang Branch, Media Syahrianto, in a written statement on Sunday (6/9/2026).
Media also explained that ASDP, together with regulators from KSOP and BPTD, continues to optimise the number of vessels operating daily, with an operating pattern of up to 8 trips.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all service users affected by this condition. We will continue to work on the ground and conduct regular evaluations so that every available capacity can be utilised optimally,” said Media.
Currently, ASDP continues to coordinate intensively with relevant stakeholders in managing vehicle flow, both entering and leaving the port, so that traffic movement proceeds in an orderly and safe manner.
ASDP has urged the public planning to travel via the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing to plan their journeys carefully. Service users are asked to ensure they have tickets before arriving at the port and to comply with all instructions from officers on the ground.
“We hope that the measures taken will gradually accelerate the easing of congestion so that it does not disrupt public activities,” concluded Media.
