KMHDI Urges Public to Maintain Conducive Situation in Response to Pertamax Price Hike
The central executive board of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Student Association (PP KMHDI) has called on all elements of society to respond wisely to the increase in non-subsidised fuel prices by maintaining a conducive national situation. KMHDI also urged the public to avoid all forms of anarchism that could harm the wider community’s interests.
PP KMHDI General Chairman Wayan Ardi Adnyana stated in Jakarta on Saturday that the adjustment of non-subsidised fuel prices, particularly Pertamax and Pertamax Green effective 10 June 2026, cannot be separated from the current global geopolitical dynamics affecting world energy prices, international supply chains, and energy import costs for many countries, including Indonesia.
Pertamina and the government also explained that the adjustment was made by considering developments in world oil prices and the international geopolitical situation. According to Wayan, the public certainly has the right to express aspirations and criticism regarding policies deemed to impact daily life. However, the expression of aspirations must remain within democratic corridors, prioritising dialogue and not developing into anarchic actions that could disrupt national social and economic stability.
‘KMHDI understands that the increase in non-subsidised fuel prices raises concerns among the public. However, we must also view this issue comprehensively. The heated global geopolitical situation has impacted international energy prices and poses challenges for many countries,’ said Wayan. Therefore, KMHDI invites all elements of the nation to maintain unity, prioritise dialogue, and reject all forms of anarchism.
KMHDI considers national stability a crucial prerequisite for the continuity of development, economic growth, and the protection of ordinary citizens. In a global situation full of uncertainty, the Indonesian nation requires a spirit of mutual cooperation between the government, the public, the business sector, and all civil elements to face the various emerging economic challenges.
On the other hand, KMHDI also asked the government and Pertamina to continue maintaining the availability and distribution of subsidised fuels, particularly Pertalite and Biosolar, so they remain easily accessible to ordinary citizens, farmers, fishermen, MSME players, and productive sectors highly dependent on affordable energy. The government itself has ensured that subsidised fuel prices have not changed amid the non-subsidised fuel adjustment.
‘Alignment with the people must remain a priority. We encourage the government to ensure that supplies of Pertalite and Biosolar remain secure and that their distribution is well-targeted. Ordinary citizens must not become the most impacted party in this uncertain global situation,’ said Wayan.
Furthermore, KMHDI reminded that the economic challenges resulting from global geopolitical turmoil are not only experienced by Indonesia, but also various other countries facing pressure on energy prices and the cost of living. For this reason, collective maturity is needed to view issues objectively and to avoid provocations that could divide national unity.
As a cadre organisation based on the values of Dharma and nationalism, KMHDI is committed to continuously encouraging constructive public education spaces, critically overseeing government policies, and ensuring the interests of the people remain the main focus in every national policy-making decision.
‘Let us keep Indonesia conducive. Criticism can be conveyed, aspirations must be fought for, but they must not be done in ways that damage public facilities, disrupt order, or cause divisions within society. National unity must remain the nation’s main strength in facing global challenges,’ concluded Wayan.
