KM Nurul Salsa survivors receive trauma healing at Selayar Hospital

Seven surviving patients from the KM Nurul Salsa who are being treated at the KH Hayyung Regional General Hospital in Benteng, Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, have been provided with trauma healing services for their psychological recovery. Selayar Islands Police Chief AKBP Didid Imawan stated that through this trauma healing activity, it is hoped the victims can feel calm and strong again, and gradually overcome the trauma they experienced. Policewomen and members of the Bhayangkari organisation were present to accompany the victims, providing moral support and helping to restore the mental condition of the survivors after the psychological impact of the disaster. The trauma healing was carried out through a humanistic approach, with policewomen and Bhayangkari members engaging the survivors in casual conversation while offering motivation, boosting their spirits, and creating a warm atmosphere to help them feel calmer and more comfortable during the recovery period. The police chief affirmed his commitment to delivering humanistic police services, not only in law enforcement and disaster management but also in providing humanitarian support to communities struck by tragedy. Meanwhile, the joint SAR team continues its search operation on the eighth day, combing the waters around Sabalana Island in Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency with two search and rescue units deployed to the eastern and western sectors of the island. Two bodies were recovered the previous day and are being identified at Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar by the Disaster Victim Identification team; one has been confirmed as a passenger of the KM Nurul Salsa, while the other remains unidentified. Of the 78 people aboard the vessel, 59 survived, three are confirmed dead, and 16 remain missing.
