Klungkung's Economy Grows 5.67%, Poverty Declines Significantly

Klungkung’s economy experienced growth throughout 2025. The Klungkung Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an outstanding performance for Klungkung’s economy, with the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) at current prices reaching Rp12 trillion.

“The PDRB value increased by nearly Rp3 trillion (Rp2.8 trillion), achieved in just three years, surpassing the progress of the previous decade,” said the Head of BPS Klungkung, Anak Agung Gede Dirga Kardita, during an audience with the Regent of Klungkung, I Made Satria, on Monday (20/4/2026).

Klungkung recorded growth of 5.67%. This was only 0.15 points behind Bali’s average growth rate. This figure placed Klungkung in fourth position, behind Gianyar.

Although not the fastest overall, Klungkung’s per capita PDRB growth reached 5.39%. This figure surpassed Bali’s average of 5.16%. According to Kardita, this indicates that individual welfare in Klungkung is improving faster than in other regions.

The main economic achievements were said to be in the transportation and food and beverage accommodation sectors. Both experienced growth above 13%. Meanwhile, the agricultural sector remains the main pillar, contributing more than one-fifth of the total economy. Klungkung continues to excel as the main seaweed producer.

Unemployment and poverty have declined significantly. Klungkung holds the second-lowest unemployment percentage in Bali. “The poverty figure has dropped to the best point in the last five years, namely below 10,000 people or around 5 percent,” explained Kardita.

Meanwhile, Satria stated that this economic growth is the result of a balanced strategy between the tourism and agricultural sectors.

“The memory of the pandemic teaches us not to chase tourism while forgetting agriculture. Fortunately, in 2025, both sectors were able to grow together,” said Satria.

“In the current era, competition is no longer about the big swallowing the small, but about how the fast can outperform the slow,” added the politician from the party with the bull emblem.

This positive momentum is hoped to be maintained. Satria hopes that Klungkung can sustain its competitiveness at the regional level to expand job opportunities for all levels of society.
