Klungkung Regency to Name Street After National Hero Ida Dewa Agung Jambe

The Klungkung regency administration will immortalise Ida Dewa Agung Jambe by naming a street after him. This was conveyed by Klungkung Regent I Made Satria during the ratification of the Draft Regional Regulation on Guidelines for Naming Streets and Public Facilities in the main session room of the Klungkung Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) on Thursday (11/6/2026).

Satria said the effort is a form of appreciation for the services of the National Hero from Klungkung. The PDI-P politician stated that the plan has been supported by the existence of a regional regulation on street naming. Nevertheless, in the effort to change one of the street names in Klungkung to Ida Dewa Agung Jambe, his administration will still consider a number of matters.

“We have prepared this. We will further coordinate with figures and elders of the Klungkung Palace,” said Satria.

The ratification of the Draft Regional Regulation on guidelines for naming streets and public facilities was carried out to provide clear, objective, and accountable guidance for the regional government in determining the names of streets and public facilities.

“The aim is quite clear, to avoid overlapping names and provide legal certainty. Besides that, this is also to ensure our administrative order,” added Satria.

In the effort to name streets and public facilities, the government, according to Satria, will continue to observe the precautionary principle in considering historical values, meritorious local figures, local language and culture, as well as community aspirations.

So far, the naming of streets and public facilities has not been regulated comprehensively in the Bumi Serombotan area. Satria said this has caused disorder, overlapping names, and some name usages that are not yet in accordance with historical values, culture, and local characteristics.

“With standardised guidelines, we hope that the naming of streets and public facilities can reflect the identity of the region and strengthen the public’s sense of ownership of public spaces. Moreover, naming streets and public facilities also holds strategic value, namely not only as location markers but also as educational media, a tribute to history, and the preservation of cultural values and local wisdom,” he concluded.
