A pyrolysis waste processing machine at the Setempat Waste Processing Centre (TOSS) in Klungkung, Bali, is being prepared for full operation this month but is still awaiting a specialist technician from China. The technology, which originates from the Cook Islands and is managed by PT Inpac Solutions Indo, has a capacity of 4 tonnes per hour.

Head of the Klungkung Environment and Land Agency (DLHP), I Dewa Komang Aswin, stated that trials for the 4-tonne capacity machine will be conducted soon. However, a technician from China is required to test the machine’s capabilities.

‘We will soon trial the 4-tonne capacity machine. We are currently waiting for the technician from China,’ Aswin said on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

The Klungkung Regency Government previously tested a waste processing machine with a 750-gram capacity. According to Aswin, that machine successfully processed plastic waste, rubber tyres, and organic waste simultaneously into fuel oil, carbon or briquettes, and wire.

Aswin explained that the larger capacity machine will operate using the same mechanism. With the operation of this machine, along with a waste sorting machine with an 8-tonne per hour capacity, the existing waste pile is expected to be cleared more quickly.

Aswin noted that the foreign technicians brought in by the company will not operate the machine indefinitely. In addition to assisting with the installation process, they will also train local technicians so that the company can increasingly utilise local workers in the future.

‘As the Regent previously stated, the company recognises the importance of local labour. Currently, there are already local technicians from here undergoing special training,’ Aswin explained.

Besides China, the company is also bringing in technicians from the Cook Islands, the country of origin for the pyrolysis technology. The four pyrolysis machines, with a total capacity of 168 tonnes per day, are a waste processing technology developed by Andersons Group from the Cook Islands and manufactured in China through PT Inpac Solutions Indo.

Director of PT Inpac Solutions Indo, Anak Agung Pablo, claimed that the pyrolysis technology operated in Klungkung has previously succeeded in addressing waste problems in the Cook Islands and several Asian countries. He said the installation progress remains on schedule.

‘We are on schedule for full operation by the end of this month. The installation of equipment is in progress. In one or two weeks, everything should be installed,’ Pablo stated.

Pablo added that the fuel oil produced by the machine is currently undergoing laboratory testing. ‘It is currently being lab tested. Once the results are out, we will present them,’ he added.
