The Klungkung Culture Office (Disbud) has rolled out an educational programme titled ‘Learning Together in Museums’ (BBM) for primary school students. Unfortunately, students from public primary schools (SDN) in the Nusa Penida District have not yet been included in this cultural preservation initiative.

The Head of the Klunggung Culture Office, I Wayan Suteja, revealed that only three out of four districts have been reached so far. The Nusa Penida District has not yet been touched by the programme due to budget calculation constraints. The primary obstacle is that the required budget would increase significantly due to both sea and land transportation costs.

“Throughout this year, the BBM programme has only been realised eight times, with a total budget of approximately Rp 52 million specifically allocated to cover student transportation and consumption. This activity is indeed focused on primary school children whose locations are quite far from the central area,” Suteja explained to detikBali on Thursday (1/10/2026).

Given the high enthusiasm of the participants, Suteja hopes that the scope and frequency of this programme can be increased to twice a month next year.

A staff member at the Semarajaya Klungkung Museum, Putu Agus Putrawan, explained that the BBM agenda consists of activities introducing traditional Balinese games and the Balinese script to students. After the learning session concludes, students are taken on a tour to explore the museum grounds.

“We involve resource persons from the Provincial Balinese Language Extension Officers serving the Klungkung Regency area to teach the Balinese script,” said Agus.
