Klungkung DPRD Chairman Criticises WFH Every Friday: Risky as It Could Become a Long Weekend
The Chairman of the Klungkung DPRD, Anak Agung Gde Anom, considers the implementation of Work From Home (WFH) for ASN to still be quite risky. This is evident from the choice of WFH day, namely Friday.
According to him, WFH every Friday has the potential to become a long weekend holiday, which is feared that ASN will use the time to travel or go on holiday. If this happens, the goal of saving fuel oil (BBM) will not be achieved due to the increased mobility of ASN.
“I think it is indeed still risky to implement. Friday from the public’s perspective can become a long weekend. This could cause other impacts,” explained Gde Anom to detikBali on Thursday (2/4/2026).
The PDIP politician instead sees that the appropriate WFH day selection is every Tuesday or Wednesday. According to him, WFH on days other than Friday will also be the same as other days that are not adjacent to ASN weekend holidays.
“If I may choose, it can be implemented on Tuesday or Wednesday. This possibility will be the same. Because don’t let the government’s desire to be efficient, but because of the long weekend, it turns into having time to go out on holiday,” he said.
Gde Anom assesses that the central government’s policy in efforts to carry out efficiency is not as easy as that to implement in the regions. Therefore, studies and coordination are needed within the scope of the regional government in efforts to ensure that the implementation of WFH can run as expected.
Gde Anom also mentioned other technical obstacles in regulating WFH for service agencies that cannot possibly be applied. That is why until now the Klungkung Regency Government has not decided on the policy regarding the Kemendagri SE related to the implementation of WFH in the regions.
“This is indeed a bit difficult too. How the centre issues one decision. We have not decided until now. The efficiency that has been done so far is only on the use of electricity in offices. For WFH, it is still being studied,” he explained.
Previously, the Regent of Klungkung, I Made Satria, said that until now his side has not been able to implement the WFH policy without first studying the Kemendagri SE.
The study is considered important considering the WFH implementation system combined with Work From Office (WFO) cannot be applied evenly throughout the Regional Government Organisation (OPD). Especially those that are service-oriented.
Some of the considerations include service agencies such as the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Health Service, and other service agencies.
“Not only BPBD, the health service and other urgent service agencies can’t. Therefore, after receiving the circular, we need coordination, like what, which services can we apply WFH to,” said I Made Satria.
