Klungkung Communications Office Urges Kominfo and Providers to Address Blank Spots in 6 Nusa Penida Villages
Six villages in Nusa Penida subdistrict, Klungkung, Bali, still have blank spots or areas without telecommunication networks. The Klungkung Communications and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) has acknowledged this issue.
“For the blank spots, we must admit that there are still six villages in that category, especially in the southern and eastern regions,” said the Head of Diskominfo Klungkung, I Wayan Sudiarsa, to detikBali on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
To address the problem, Diskominfo Klungkung has submitted a request for assistance to the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (BAKTI Komdigi). Additionally, Diskominfo Klungkung is also urging partner providers to build base transceiver stations (BTS) there.
Sudiarsa added that Diskominfo Klungkung has already approached the central government through BAKTI Komdigi. He hopes that assistance for BTS construction can be budgeted for Nusa Penida subdistrict.
“We have already approached Komdigi through BAKTI because our finances are not in good shape,” Sudiarsa explained.
Sudiarsa revealed that efforts to make Klungkung free of blank spots are still obstructed in Nusa Penida subdistrict. The telecommunication networks in the six villages there have not seen any changes since three years ago.
Geographical location is the main obstacle in building network towers. Sudiarsa has high hopes for private providers to build BTS in the blank spot areas in Nusa Penida subdistrict.
“For building BTS, we direct it to the private sector. We have already cooperated with providers. We urge them to build towers there, but due to geographical obstacles and extremely high costs, they are considering building BTS,” Sudiarsa explained.
“However, we continue to coordinate, especially with Telkom because it is a state-owned enterprise. We are still approaching them,” Sudiarsa added.
