Kloter 17 Kualanamu Officially Concludes Return of North Sumatra Hajj Pilgrims

The Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) of the Medan Embarkation has announced that the 229 pilgrims in Flight Group (Kloter) 17 Kualanamu represent the final group of pilgrims from North Sumatra to return to the homeland.

“Flight Group 17 serves as the concluding series of the return of North Sumatran pilgrims to the country,” stated the Chairman of the Medan Debarkation PPIH, Zulkifli Sitorus, following the departure of the 229 pilgrims at the Medan Hajj Dormitory on Sunday (21/06/2026).

He explained that this group consists of pilgrims from eight regencies and cities within North Sumatra, including 197 people from Medan, 13 from Deli Serdang, and five from Serdang Bedagai. Additionally, there were two pilgrims each from Padangsidimpuan, Central Tapanuli, and Labuhanbatu; one each from North Labuhanbatu and South Labuhanbatu; as well as six group officers.

Data from the Medan Embarkation PPIH indicates that the total number of regular Hajj pilgrims from North Sumatra returning to the country is 5,962, comprising 5,894 pilgrims and 68 group officers.

It was recorded that nine pilgrims from North Sumatra passed away in the Holy Land, originating from six regencies and cities, including Medan (three people), Langkat (two people), and one each from Mandailing Natal, North Padang Lawas, South Tapanuli, and Asahan.

One female pilgrim, Rukayah Wahab, from Deli Serdang Regency and part of Flight Group 15 Kualanamu, is still undergoing medical treatment in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. “Hajjah Rukayah is waiting to recover and be declared fit to fly,” said Zulkifli.
