KLM plans alliances

BOMBAY (Dow Jones): KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is exploring
possibilities of venturing into infrastructure and airport
modernization in India, Leo van Wilk, chief executive officer and
president of KLM said yesterday.

Addressing reporters, Wijk said he is in India to seek
partnerships to implement KLM's strategic global programs,
particularly in code sharing and to develop cargo infrastructure.

He said there is tremendous potential in Asia and in
particular in South Asia.

Finding a partner in Asia is more complex because of widely
differing character, Wijk said. "We are talking to various large
Asian carriers to examine which of them would be suitable for our
global alliance," he added.

Last year, KLM signed a commercial cooperation agreement with
Malaysian Airlines.
