KLH Seals 19 Business Entities Over Forest and Land Fires
The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has carried out supervisory action in the form of sealing 19 business entities in seven provinces in connection with forest and land fires (karhutla). From these 19 business entities, the indicated burnt land area reaches 11,046.69 hectares.
Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement at KLH, Inspector General of Police Rizal Irawan, said the supervisory action was taken as part of law enforcement against forest and land fires. Case handling against business entities is carried out through administrative channels, environmental disputes or civil proceedings, as well as criminal proceedings.
“So, law enforcement efforts from January up to yesterday have involved 19 business entities in seven provinces, on which we have installed supervisory signs or seals,” he said during an online press conference on Monday (31/8/2026).
Of the 19 business entities subjected to supervisory action, seven are located in West Kalimantan with a total burnt area of 2,260.08 hectares. Meanwhile, four business entities are in South Sumatra with an area of 772.72 hectares, and three business entities in South Kalimantan with an area of 6,595.15 hectares.
In addition, two business entities in Central Kalimantan were recorded as having a burnt area of 99.40 hectares. Furthermore, one business entity each is located in East Kalimantan with an area of around five hectares, Lampung with 202.73 hectares, and Riau with around 7.10 hectares.
“So, the total of 19 business entities consists of four in Sumatra and four provinces in Kalimantan. Thus, the total burnt area from these 19 business entities is around 11,046.69 hectares,” said Rizal.
In addition, KLH has also pursued civil proceedings against business entities with a total of 32 cases in the 2023-2025 period. From all these cases, KLH has filed lawsuits for potential environmental losses amounting to Rp 5.30 trillion.
“That is the loss value in the documents that we have submitted,” he said.
Furthermore, KLH has also filed lawsuits for restoration measures with a value reaching Rp 9.50 trillion. That figure is separate from the lawsuits for potential environmental losses. He noted that from civil lawsuits that have been decided and paid this year, the state has received non-tax state revenue (PNBP) of 128,670,978,500.
