Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH), together with the South Kalimantan Provincial Environment Agency (DLH Kalsel), has distributed more than 2,000 units of bins and buckets to support waste sorting at the household level in the cities of Banjarbaru and Banjarmasin.

The Head of DLH Kalsel, Rahmat Prapto Udoyo, in Banjarbaru on Thursday, stated that this assistance represents a concrete step to encourage changes in public behaviour in managing waste starting from households.

He explained that sorting from the beginning will facilitate subsequent management processes, including reducing waste generation, recycling activities, and more environmentally friendly processing.

“The assistance also serves as both a stimulus and education for the public that waste management is not solely the government’s responsibility, but a collective one,” he said.

Rahmat conveyed that consistent implementation of waste sorting at the household level will have a significant impact on environmental cleanliness and reduce the burden on final processing sites.

DLH Kalsel invites the public to optimally utilise the provided facilities and to start habitualising the sorting of organic and inorganic waste in daily activities.

“Through these efforts, it is hoped to strengthen the sustainable waste management system and realise a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment in South Kalimantan,” Rahmat stated.
