KLH Designates Ceria as Recipient of PROPER Green 2024-2025
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) has designated PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (Ceria) as one of the companies receiving the PROPER Green award in the beyond compliance category for the 2024–2025 assessment period.
This designation is part of the PROPER evaluation involving 5,476 companies, a 22 percent increase from the previous period. The rise in participants reflects the growing commitment of the business world to maintaining transparency and accountability in environmental performance.
Minister of Environment and Forestry/Head of BPLH, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, emphasised at the PROPER Environment Awards 2025 event in Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, that PROPER is no longer merely an administrative compliance instrument but a driver of industrial transformation towards sustainable practices. “PROPER encourages companies not only to comply but to go beyond compliance through innovation, resource efficiency, and real contributions to society,” he stated.
In the assessment results, 282 companies successfully entered the beyond compliance category, comprising 39 Gold-rated companies and 243 Green-rated companies, including Ceria. Meanwhile, the majority of others remain at the Blue rating, with some still in the Red and Black categories.
Minister Hanif stressed that the government will continue to encourage companies to improve environmental performance, while providing guidance up to law enforcement for those not meeting requirements. “Environmental protection is an obligation that must be fulfilled by all business actors,” he asserted.
On the other hand, this achievement is a significant milestone for Ceria. After six consecutive years at the Blue rating, the company has now advanced to the Green rating, signifying a substantial transformation in environmental management.
Ceria’s President Director, Abdul Haris Tatang, stated that this success is the result of the collective commitment of all company elements in balancing operational activities with environmental preservation. “This achievement serves as a foundation to continue improving performance and providing broader contributions to the environment and society,” he said.
He emphasised that Ceria has implemented various sustainability initiatives, ranging from energy and water efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, circular economy-based waste management, to biodiversity protection.
Ceria’s Mining Technical Head, Alpi Cekdin, added that the company consistently integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles as well as Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) into all operational lines through the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP).
PROPER Drives National Industrial Transformation
PROPER Assessment Council Chairman, Sudharto P. Hadi, explained that PROPER assessment standards continue to evolve with a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach that evaluates environmental impacts comprehensively from upstream to downstream.
In addition, during the assessment period, 1,806 environmental and social innovations were recorded from participating PROPER companies. These innovations contribute to resource efficiency, emissions reduction, strengthening of the circular economy, and biodiversity protection.
“The community empowerment programmes run by companies also reached a value of approximately Rp1.01 trillion, demonstrating that sustainable practices have a real impact on community welfare, supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals,” he clarified.
The designation of Ceria as a PROPER Green recipient for 2024–2025 further reinforces Indonesia’s environmental policy direction, moving from mere compliance to systemic transformation in the business world. Through PROPER, environmental performance has become an integral part of business strategies and national industrial competitiveness on a global level.
