Klender Railway Wall Breached in East Jakarta as Access Point for Residents' Riot
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A railway barrier wall near Klender Station in East Jakarta was reportedly breached during a clash between residents of Kebon Singkong and Cipinang Jagal on Monday morning (25 May 2026).
“Lurah of Cipinang Muara, Komarudin stated that two holes were made in the railway barrier wall, suspected to have been deliberately breached to facilitate movement to Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, where the riot occurred. He added that due to minimal debris, only five PPSU personnel were deployed to clear scattered rocks from the road.”
Meanwhile, East Jakarta City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) chief Muhammadong said no riot suspects were apprehended as they fled upon the arrival of police, TNI, and Satpol PP personnel. “However, officers at the scene recovered eight arrows and six rocket firecracker casings believed to have been used in the riot,” he added.
The clash, which began around 5am and lasted until 7am, involved residents from Kebon Singkong and Kampung Jagal. Although the riot has ended, remnants remain near Klender Station, with joint police, TNI, and Satpol PP units still on guard. Resident Agus (not his real name) reported that the conflict started when fireworks were set off from the Kampung Jagal side, triggering the riot. He observed some Kebon Singkong residents being hit by stones but confirmed no fatalities.
