Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo held a public dialogue with residents of Central Klaten District on Friday (17/7). During the meeting, Supardi, head of the Tegal Blateran neighbourhood unit, highlighted the community’s struggle to manage waste due to a lack of vehicles and infrastructure. He requested assistance in the form of a pickup truck for waste transportation. Responding to the concerns, Regent Hamenang stated that the request would be reviewed, possibly for the 2027 budget year. He noted that waste management is a challenge not only in Klaten but also in other districts, and stressed the need for collaboration with stakeholders and public commitment. The regent revealed that the district produces 600 tonnes of waste daily, while the Troketon final processing site can only handle 200 tonnes. The local government continues to conduct public education campaigns from the neighbourhood to the village level to address the issue.
