JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had detained Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, head of the Central Java provincial representative office of the Audit Board (BPK), in a sting operation targeting Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo made the confirmation at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday. “That is correct; one of them is the head of the Central Java representative office,” he said.

Budi said the KPK had detained two people from the BPK in the operation. “So there are two civil servants from the BPK,” he said.

He added that 20 people in total had been caught in the sting: 19 in Klaten, Central Java, and one in Jakarta. The person detained in Jakarta was from the BPK.

Budi said the KPK would begin a case review, or expose, on Thursday evening to determine the legal status of those detained. “A case review is scheduled for tonight,” he said.
