The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo a suspect in a bribery case involving the alteration of a BPK audit result. The KPK said Hamenang asked the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) to remove a finding from its Audit Report (LHP) concerning excess honorarium payments.

Acting KPK Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said the Central Java BPK representative office audited Klaten Regency Government’s 2025 financial statements in April 2026. The audit identified approximately Rp5 billion in excess honorarium payments: Rp4.16 billion for speakers at regulatory outreach events whose payments did not match the duration of the events, and Rp1.02 billion in excess payments to activity organisers.

Taufik said that, following the finding, Hamenang and Klaten Regency Government Inspector Agus Suprapto met BPK Central Java officials in Semarang. Those they met included Iwan Hery Setiawan, head of Central Java Audit Division 3, and Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, head of the Central Java BPK office.

“At the meeting, they discussed plans to drop two findings related to the approximately Rp5 billion in excess honorarium payments,” Taufik said at a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (16 October 2026).

Taufik said Hamenang met Ahmad Luthfi again in Semarang in May 2026 to negotiate the removal of the excess honorarium finding from the audit of the Klaten Regency Government’s financial statements.

“ALU asked HWI, saying, ‘Please support us with Rp600 million.’ HWI did not agree and negotiated until they reached an agreement of Rp400 million. At the meeting, ALU provided the code ‘AMIDIS’,” Taufik said.

Following the negotiations, Hamenang called a meeting with Klaten Regency Government officials, including Acting Regional Secretary Jaka Purwanto, Head of the Leadership Protocol and Communications Section Rizqan Iryawan, and Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) head M Himawan Purnomo. Hamenang passed Ahmad Luthfi’s “Amidis” code to Rizqan, along with a request to prepare Rp400 million, in line with the agreement between ALU and HWI.

Rizqan then passed on the code and request to prepare Rp400 million to Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo (MAW), a private-sector representative of PT Madani Winasis Creative (MWC). However, after the KPK’s arrest operation in Muara Enim over suspected bribery linked to a BPK audit, MAW postponed the payment to Amidis until June 2026.

“Meanwhile, in June 2026, BPK submitted its audit report to the Klaten Regency Government, having dropped the finding concerning excess payments to speakers, as agreed between ALU and HWI,” Taufik added.

The KPK previously named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the manipulation of BPK audit results. Hamenang was named a suspect after being caught in a KPK sting operation.

Acting KPK Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said at a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (16 October) that three people had been named suspects:

  1. Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo (HWI), Klaten Regent for the 2025–2030 term;

  2. Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah (ALU), head of the Central Java BPK office; and

  3. Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo (MAW), a private-sector representative of PT Madani Winasis Creative.

“After finding sufficient evidence during the investigation, the KPK named three people as suspects,” Taufik said.

Taufik said all three suspects were immediately detained at the KPK detention centre in the Merah Putih Building.

“The KPK has detained the suspects for the first 20 days, from 16 October to 4 November 2026. They are being held at the KPK’s detention centre in the Merah Putih Building,” he added.

Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo had completed questioning by the KPK after being caught in the sting operation. He was detained after questioning, alongside two others: Ahmad Luthfi, head of the Central Java BPK office, and M Amin Wahyu Utomo, a private-sector representative.
