Klaten Regency Government and OJK Launch Inclusive Financial Ecosystem Programme
The Klaten Regency Government, through its Economic and Natural Resources Division, launched the Inclusive Financial Ecosystem (EKI) Programme for 2026 together with the Surakarta Financial Services Authority (OJK) at Sidowarno Village Hall, Wonosari District, on Thursday (20/8), marking the culmination of the 2026 Indonesia Savings Day (HIM) commemoration.
In his remarks, Klaten Regent, represented by the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Klaten Regional Secretariat, Much Nasir, said that Indonesia Savings Day is not merely a moment to set aside money, but also to build a healthy financial culture from an early age.
“Saving is not just about putting money aside, but about building the habit of managing finances wisely and preparing for the future,” Nasir said.
According to him, the launch of EKI in Sidowarno Village is a strategic step to expand public access to formal financial services, including financing, insurance, and investment. Moreover, Sidowarno has strong economic potential, such as wayang leather carving crafts, calligraphy, and various handicraft products.
Nasir expressed hope that the synergy between the government, OJK, financial service institutions, business actors, and the community will continue to be strengthened so that EKI can provide real benefits for improving public welfare.
Meanwhile, the Head of OJK Surakarta, Mohammad Mufid, said the launch of EKI is a momentum to build a financial ecosystem that can support the community and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors to grow further.
“After the community has savings, it is hoped that the money they have can be utilised more optimally so that MSME actors can grow and develop,” he said.
Mufid added that the success of EKI requires community human resources who have the desire to progress, supported by business strengthening, technology utilisation, and appropriate marketing strategies. He expressed hope that Sidowarno Village can become an example of EKI development for other villages.
Acting Head of Sidowarno Village, Candra Ashari, welcomed the launch of EKI in his area. According to him, the programme serves as a means to bring the community closer to formal financial institutions, as well as to improve the savings culture and financial literacy.
In the same activity, various financial products and services were symbolically handed over to the community, including Bung Mapan student savings from PT BPR Bank Klaten for elementary and kindergarten students, account opening for 30 elementary and kindergarten teachers through BKK Tulung, services for business actors (MSMEs) from BRI and Bank Mandiri, KUR from Bank Jateng, gold books from Pegadaian, BPJS protection, and support from PT Permodalan Mandiri.
Kindergarten and elementary school students from Sidowarno Village also received education on how to save and its benefits from an early age.
