Klaten Police Successfully Uncover Stone Crusher Theft Case
The theft of a stone crusher machine at the MJS Sand Depot, located in Majegan Village, Tulung District, Klaten, has been successfully resolved by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Klaten Police.
Based on the report from the victim, Sri Lestari, a resident of Karangkendal Village, Tamansari District, Boyolali, the theft at the MJS Depot occurred on 30 August 2026. In connection with the theft, officers from the Klaten Police Criminal Investigation Unit have detained a 37-year-old suspect, identified as RP, a resident of Kalitirta Village, Berbah District, Sleman.
The suspect, RP, claimed ownership of the stone crusher at the MJS Sand Depot in Majegan Village, Tulante. He subsequently sold the heavy machinery to Wendra Permana for Rp22 million.
Head of Criminal Investigation, Kompol Kadek Pande Apridya Wibisana, explained that the theft began when the suspect, RP, noticed that the stone crusher at the sand depot was not in operation. Observing that the MJS Sand Depot on the Jatinom-Tulung road was unguarded, RP conducted a survey and questioned local residents regarding the ownership of the machinery.
As no residents could identify the true owner of the stone crusher at the depot, RP falsely claimed to be the owner. He then proceeded to offer the machine to Wendra Permana.
“The modus operandi was that RP claimed the stone crusher belonged to him. He then sold the machine without the knowledge or permission of the actual owner,” said Kompol Kadek on Wednesday (9/9).
The stone crusher was sold to Wendra Permana for Rp22 million via cash and bank transfer. When the machinery was being dismantled on 30 August 2026, the actual owner arrived at the site. The victim questioned Wendra regarding who had authorised the dismantling, to which Wendra replied that the heavy equipment had been purchased from RP.
Following this, Sri Lestari, the owner, reported the incident to the Klaten Police. Through intensive investigation and inquiry, officers successfully apprehended RP on Friday (4/9) at 02:30 WIB. The suspect was found in Bantul under the influence of illegal drugs. Upon interrogation, RP admitted to selling the stone crusher to Wendra.
“In this theft case, RP is charged under Article 476 of the Criminal Code, facing a maximum prison sentence of five years. The victim has suffered losses amounting to Rp750 million,” stated the Head of Criminal Investigation at Klaten Police.
