The National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) of Klaten Regency, Central Java, held a seminar for the Interfaith Harmony Association (PKUB) at the Klaten Regency Hall on Tuesday (9/6).

The PKUB seminar was opened by the Regent of Klaten, represented by Sutopo, the Regent’s Expert Staff, and was attended by the Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Khumaidin, and the Chairman of the FKUB (Religious Harmony Forum) Klatan, Syamsuddin Asyrofi.

The Head of the Klaten Kesbangpol, Sugeng Haryanto, reported that the 2026 PKUB seminar was attended by approximately 440 participants. These included representatives from the FKUB of 26 sub-districts and the PKUB from 401 villages/wards.

The PKUB seminar serves as a platform for open dialogue to strengthen interfaith tolerance and prevent potential conflicts to maintain the harmony of the Klaten community.

“The purpose and objective of organising the Klaten Regency PKUB seminar is to prevent potential conflicts and maintain harmony within the community environment,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Klaten, Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, in a written speech read by Sutopo, the Regent’s Expert Staff, expressed appreciation for the organisation of the PKUB seminar in Klaten Regency.

The successful formation of the PKUB across all 401 villages is proof that harmony is not only built at the elite level but is also grown and maintained directly by the community.

Amidst the development of information technology and various current social dynamics, according to the Regent of Klaten, the role of the PKUB at the sub-district, village, and ward levels is becoming increasingly strategic.

Therefore, the Klaten Regency PKUB is expected to be able to act as an early detector of potential social issues, serve as a communication bridge across religions, and act as a role model for the younger generation.

“Klaten Regency should be proud to be one of the regions recognised nationally for the development of religious harmony and community-based cooperation,” he said.

Consequently, the Klaten Regency Government is committed to continuously strengthening religious moderation. Furthermore, cultural approaches and local wisdom are seen as effective means to strengthen brotherhood.

“Let us prove that in this peaceful Klaten Regency, harmony is not merely a slogan, but has become a culture and the breath of daily life for the community,” said the Regent of Klaten.
