The 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration in Klaten Regency, Central Java, held on Monday (1 June), was conducted with a ceremony led by Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo. The event, themed ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace’, was attended by regional security and leadership officials, the DPRD chairman, acting regent secretary, and heads of Klaten’s regional agencies. All participants, particularly civil servants, wore traditional Javanese attire.

Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo delivered a written statement from BPIP Chief Yudian Wahyudi, stating that Pancasila Day is not merely an annual ceremonial event but a reflective moment to ensure its values remain alive as a guide in community, national, and state life. ‘Commemorating Pancasila Day is a moment of reflection to ensure the flame of Pancasila continues to burn in the hearts of every Indonesian,’ he explained.

The theme underscores Pancasila’s noble values are not only relevant for Indonesia’s unity but also contribute to sustainable world peace. It was stated that Pancasila serves as Indonesia’s guiding star, having withstood various generational challenges, while the nation remains steadfast in its diversity.

‘Indonesia is a clear example of how diversity spanning over 17,000 islands and hundreds of ethnic groups can be united under a harmonious, just, and prosperous national bond,’ he said.

During the event, the BPIP Chief urged all national elements, particularly the younger generation as future leaders, to embrace Pancasila as a living ideology manifested in daily actions.

Mahyeldi reminded all societal elements to nurture unity amid Indonesia’s diversity of ethnicity, culture, language, and religion. Indonesia has a constitutional responsibility to contribute to global order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.

The commemoration reflects respect for the noble values underpinning Indonesia for decades. Upholding Pancasila is the responsibility of all national components, especially youth. Pancasila Day serves as a crucial moment to strengthen national spirit and unity.

Several students from SMP 18 Lombok Barat assembled a puzzle featuring the Pancasila Garuda during the commemoration.
