Klaten Holds Fire Safety Challenge 2026
The Klaten Regency Government, through the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and Fire Department, has organised the Klaten Fire Safety Challenge 2026. The competition, testing agility and fire emergency handling skills, was officially opened by Acting Regional Secretary Jaka Purwanto. The Fire Safety Challenge took place on Jalan Sidoluhur, Alun-alun Klaten, on Tuesday (11/8), guided by Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2019 on Fire Prevention and as part of the 222nd Klaten Anniversary celebrations. Sumino, Head of the Fire Department at Satpol PP and Damkar Klaten, reported that the objective of the Fire Safety Challenge was to instil awareness of rescue efforts for emergency response officers in buildings. Additionally, it aimed to train building emergency response teams’ knowledge in saving lives, providing initial aid to victims, and implementing fire safety plans and emergency fire procedures. “The Klaten Fire Safety Challenge 2026, which was attended by government agencies, companies, hospitals, and universities in Klaten, serves as an illustration of the implementation of Building Fire Safety Management (MKKG),” Sumino stated. Meanwhile, Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, represented by Acting Regional Secretary Jaka Purwanto, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Klaten Satpol PP and Damkar for organising the 2026 Fire Safety Challenge. The Klaten Fire Safety Challenge event is not merely a competition or skills test, but is part of efforts to build a culture of safety and community preparedness in facing fire hazards. “I hope the participants of the 2026 Fire Safety Challenge not only pursue victory, but also make this event a space for learning and practising providing assistance when an emergency occurs,” he said.
