Klaten Gedhe Market Supplied with 4,700 Tonnes of SPHP Rice, February as Final Distribution Month
To secure rice availability at markets ahead of Eid 2026, Perum Bulog’s Surakarta branch this week distributed 4,700 tonnes of stabilised supply and food price (SPHP) rice to Pasar Gedhe Klaten.
The SPHP rice distribution to Pasar Gedhe Klaten was conducted in two shipments. The first delivery on Monday, 23 February, comprised 2,700 tonnes, whilst the second distribution on Friday, 27 February, consisted of 2,000 tonnes.
The thousands of tonnes of SPHP rice delivered to the traditional market were sourced from Bulog’s Meger warehouse in Klaten. The warehouse currently maintains rice stocks of 10,780 tonnes, sufficient to meet requirements until the end of the year.
This was disclosed by Syamsul Bahri, Head of Bulog Meger warehouse, when confirming details regarding the SPHP rice distribution to basic commodities traders at Pasar Gedhe Klaten on Friday, 27 February.
Pasar Gedhe Klaten regularly receives weekly SPHP rice allocations to constrain rice price increases in the market. The controlled retail price for SPHP rice stands at Rp12,500 per kilogram, compared with local medium-grade rice at Rp14,000 per kilogram.
“The government’s policy of distributing SPHP rice to this market serves both to secure rice availability and maintain price stability,” stated the Bulog Meger warehouse head.
Regarding SPHP rice distribution to Pasar Gedhe Klaten, according to Syamsul, February 2026 represents the final distribution cycle. This aligns with directives issued by the government through the National Food Agency.
“Regarding March distributions, we have not yet received information. The assignment letter to Perum Bulog has not been issued. Therefore, regarding further SPHP rice distribution, we are awaiting new assignment orders,” he added.
