KLa Project to Headline Bulfest 2026 with Vintage Theme

Legendary music group KLa Project has been confirmed as one of the main guest stars at the Buleleng Festival (Bulfest) 2026. The presence of the band, popular for hits such as ‘Yogyakarta’ and ‘Tak Bisa ke Lain Hati’, is part of Bulfest’s new concept which carries a vintage or old-timey theme.

Buleleng Regent Nyoman Sutjidra said the concept was deliberately chosen to invite the public to reminisce about Buleleng’s past glory. All elements of the festival, from decorations and music to culinary offerings, will be adapted to this theme.

‘The concept of Bulfest now is vintage, going back to the old days. So that is why the musicians, on the 18th there will be KLa Project. So, it is old-time music. And the colours are also vintage colours. Old-fashioned colours, from the past. The concept is like that,’ Sutjidra said on Friday (7/8/2026).

Sutjidra explained that the selection of KLa Project was not merely about providing entertainment. The band, which has been performing since the 1980s, is considered capable of strengthening the nostalgic atmosphere intended for this year’s Bulfest.

The Buleleng Festival (Bulfest) 2026 will be held from 18 to 23 August 2026. According to him, unlike previous years’ events, Bulfest 2026 will not be filled with loud, hard-beat music. Instead, the committee has curated the musicians’ performances to create a more relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for visitors.

‘The music will all be soft. There will also be keroncong. Musicians from Bali have also been given the concept, so there will be no more loud music. A tranquil Buleleng,’ Sutjidra stated.

Not only music, the vintage concept is also applied to the culinary tenants. Visitors will be able to find various traditional snacks, such as laklak and jukut buangit, as well as the ‘dagang patokan’ trading concept that was once part of Buleleng community life in the 1980s.

According to Sutjidra, the concept is part of the Buleleng Regency Government’s effort to revive the region’s history, which was once a trade centre and the capital of the Lesser Sunda Islands. ‘Through this Bulfest, we want the younger generation to know that Buleleng was once a trade centre and has a great history. That is what we want to showcase again through this year’s festival concept,’ Sutjidra explained.
