KL warns against Anwar verdict demos
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian police issued on Thursday a
stern warning against any demonstrations on Aug. 4 when the
verdict is due in the sex trial of jailed ex-deputy premier Anwar
Ibrahim.
But supporters said they would gather outside the court.
"There is a demo planned ... people will gather outside the
high court," said Tian Chua, vice-president of the National
Justice Party founded by Anwar's wife.
Police chief Norian Mai was quoted by the official Bernama
news agency as saying he would act to ensure public order.
