KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysia is considering boosting its national squad with players from Saudi Arabia for a friendly match against English champions Manchester United on July 22.
Ibrahim Saad, head of Malaysia's national team delegation, was quoted in Monday's online edition of The Star newspaper as saying Saudi players could improve the side.
The Saudis will be in south east Asia for games against Malaysia and Singapore in preparation for the second phase of Asia's World Cup qualifying tournament.
Manchester United is playing in Kuala Lumpur as part of a pre- season tour of south east Asia. It is also due to play games in Singapore on July 24 and Bangkok on July 29.
