KL police arrest Nur Misuari

MALAYSIA: Philippine Muslim rebel leader Nur Misuari was
arrested early on Saturday on an island off Malaysia's Sabah
state, Inspector General of Police Norian Mai said.

Misuari and six of his followers were arrested at 3:30 a.m.
(1930 GMT) on Jampiras island for entering Malaysia illegally via
Jolo island in the southern Philippines, Norian was quoted as
saying by the Bernama news agency.

Misuari, the leader of a Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF)
faction, is wanted by the Philippines government for leading a
rebellion in which at least 113 people were killed last Monday.

Norian said police would make efforts to hand Misuari and his
men over to the Philippine government as soon as possible, but
declined to say where they were being held. -- AFP
