JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has expanded Indonesia’s fishery export access to China after over 600 fish processing units (FPUs) received official approval to enter the Chinese market. Ishartini, head of the KKP’s Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Monitoring Agency (Badan Mutu), stated that as China’s recognised competent authority (CA) for Indonesian fish quality, the agency has secured registration numbers or permits for over 600 FPUs to export fishery products to China. ‘The latest batch of eight FPUs received approval from China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) on Monday, 11 May, bringing the total to 638 units,’ Ishartini said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, 31 May 2026. She listed the eight newly approved FPUs set to begin fish exports to China: PT Duta Mitra Semesta, PT BPH Global Indonesia, CV Daniel Nathania Fishery, PT Bintang Samudera Pratama, PT Ramantha Kawanua Indonesia, PT Marindo Jaya Maros, PT Jaya Mega Samudra, and PT Zhongyi Supply Chain Services. Ishartini added that Indonesia currently exports 1,080 types of fishery commodities to China. For 2025, exports to China reached 491,528 tonnes valued at $1.04 billion USD, or approximately Rp 17.46 trillion. She urged all businesses and stakeholders with export access to various countries to maintain commitment and consistency in applying sanitation, hygiene, and food safety standards throughout the production chain and surrounding facility environments. ‘This is to ensure product acceptance and strengthen international confidence, which will enhance competitiveness,’ she added. Previously, Marine and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stressed the importance of maintaining product quality to advance Indonesia’s fishery industry and establish dominance in the free trade era.
