JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid is collaborating with students through the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN) programme to assist the government in surveying waqf land that has not yet been certified.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of ATR/BPN and UIN Datokarama Palu, together with Rector Lukman S Thahir, on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“Through the Thematic KKN, we invite students to go directly to the community, helping to survey waqf lands that do not yet have legal certainty, from managing Waqf Declaration Deeds to waqf land certification,” said Nusron.

To date, said Nusron, there is still a great deal of waqf land that has not been officially recorded.

Therefore, he believes that student involvement can help increase the number of waqf land registrations in Indonesia.

The MoU covers the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the fields of education, research, and community service, particularly on land issues.

Rector of UIN Datokarama Palu, Lukman S Thahir, welcomed the collaboration and expressed the campus’s readiness to participate actively in the Thematic KKN programme.

“Insya Allah, perhaps in April this year, the Thematic KKN related to land issues will begin. So, we will also help with the identification of waqf land, especially mosques that may not yet have completed land certificates,” said Lukman.

In addition to the MoU signing, on that occasion, Nusron also handed over usage rights certificates to the campus party as a form of the government’s commitment to providing legal certainty for state assets in the education sector.

The certificate handover is expected to support campus development and strengthen legal certainty for assets owned by educational institutions.
