Kitong Bisa Foundation and Eramet Indonesia Help Underprivileged Students Access University
Many talented children are unable to access education due to economic constraints. Consequently, the Kitong Bisa Foundation (KBF) was established as a simple initiative to help them continue their education. Starting with just five students and driven by the belief that education can transform a person’s future, KBF founder Isaschar Mambrasar built a learning space that serves as a beacon of hope for many children in his region.
KBF is a non-profit organisation focused on human resource development through education, leadership, and the empowerment of the younger generation in Eastern Indonesia, and it currently supports hundreds of students. Over time, KBF has not only helped children stay in school but has also built a talent development ecosystem that allows the youth of Eastern Indonesia to have equal opportunities to grow, achieve, and contribute to their regions.
This commitment has led to various strategic collaborations, including a partnership with Eramet Indonesia through the Eramet Beyond Scholarship Programme, which was launched in November 2024. Through this programme, awardees receive not only educational support but also leadership training, mentoring, capacity building, and opportunities to undertake various social initiatives that impact society.
In his speech, the CEO of Kitong Bisa Foundation, Mohamad Afif Dzulqimfli, stated that only 32% of students in Indonesia proceed to university after completing high school. Attending university is a privilege, especially when accompanied by a scholarship. It is hoped that through this opportunity, awardees can provide a real impact for their peers in their respective regions. He also urged the awardees to return and rebuild their home regions.
“According to BPS Indonesia, only 32% of students can continue to university after graduating from high school. This means only 3 out of 10 people can proceed to higher education. I hope that through this programme, my friends can provide real impacts and solutions. My message to you all is to be able to return and rebuild your respective regions,” said Afif.
The journey of the Eramet Beyond Scholarship Programme officially reached its peak during a closing ceremony held on 29-30 June 2026 in Jakarta. A total of 41 scholarship recipients from various parts of Eastern Indonesia gathered to celebrate the journey, learning, and impact they have created throughout the programme.
Eramet Indonesia and the Kitong Bisa Foundation concluded the first cohort of the Eramet Beyond scholarship for 41 students from Eastern Indonesia, all of whom achieved significant academic milestones.
