Kitaro to perform at Senayan

JAKARTA (JP): Japanese composer Kitaro is scheduled to perform at the Senayan indoor tennis stadium on Sept. 20, announced Buena Production, a promotion company.

Ticket prices have not yet been determined, said Peter Basuki of Buena Production.

Kitaro, in a press conference at the Music Room discotheque yesterday, said the repertoire of his first concert in Indonesia will include new compositions from his album Mandala (1994) and his previous compositions.

"I haven't decided yet which compositions precisely will be presented here, but I will present around 20 songs," said Kitaro who won a Golden Globe award in 1993 for his soundtrack for Oliver Stone's film Heaven and Earth.

Kitaro, a Japanese TV cartoon character and the name high school friends dumped on Masanori Takakashi, is widely known for his so-called new-age music, although the composer prefers to call it simply "spiritual".

The composer, who has lived in Colorado in the United States since 1990, has recorded over two dozen albums, including Kojiki (1990). He released his new album An Enchanted Evening this month. It is a live recording of his most recent concert tour in the U.S. (als)
