KIP 2027 to Target 130,620 Additional Student Recipients

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisainstek) has stated that the approved additional education budget allocation will target 130,620 students receiving the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah programme for the 2027 Fiscal Year.

During a working meeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yulianto, stated that this quota increase can be realised once the ministry secures the approval of an additional budget amounting to Rp1.267 trillion.

“This budget adjustment focuses on the KIP Kuliah target to add 130,620 students, so that the target for students funded by KIP Kuliah in the 2027 Fiscal Year will reach approximately 220,000 people,” he said.

Brian explained that based on the decision of the Budget Committee (Banggar) of the DPR RI meeting on 15 September 2026, Kemendiktisainstek has received an additional budget injection for the education function of Rp1.267 trillion specifically to expand the scope of KIP Kuliah.

The total budget allocation provided by the ministry for the entire KIP Kuliah programme in 2027 reaches Rp16.66 trillion, intended for both new students and ongoing recipients.

Brian stated that Kemendiktisainstek ensures this increase in recipient quotas represents a shared commitment between the government and the DPR to expand access to higher education for the nation’s children from underprivileged families.
