King to receive Anwar report
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): A royal commission investigating
injuries sustained by sacked finance minister Anwar Ibrahim while
in police custody will present its report to Malaysia's king on
Tuesday, government officials said.
The three-member commission will present the report and its
recommendations to the king at the royal palace in the capital,
the officials said on Monday.
A palace spokesman said it had not yet been decided whether
the report would be made public. A commission source said the
panel would prefer that the report be made public, but that it
was up to the palace to release it.
Anwar was arrested on Sept. 20 and appeared in court nine days
later with a black eye and bruises on his neck and arm, stirring
international outrage.
