Kim Dae-jung here for two-day visit

JAKARTA (JP): South Korean President Kim Dae-jung arrived here on Monday for a two-day official visit.

Kim arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma airport on board a Korean Airlines Boeing-747 and was welcomed by President Abdurrahman Wahid.

Also present at the airport were, among others, foreign minister Alwi Shihab, coordinating ministers Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Rizal Ramli, National Police chief Gen. Surojo Bimantoro and the Indonesian Military chief Adm. Widodo A.S.

Kim is due to receive a courtesy call from Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri later on Monday before attending an official welcoming banquet at the state palace.

Kim and Abdurrahman are scheduled to hold talks at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday and both are expected to witness the signing of bilateral agreements on cultural cooperation and extradition by Alwi and his South Korean counterpart Lee Joung-binn.

Kim is scheduled to hold a joint press conference with Abdurrahman later on Tuesday. (byg)
