Kilo Port Dompu National Strategic Project Implementation Accelerated

Dompu (ANTARA) - Construction of the Kilo Sea Port National Strategic Project (PSN) in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, is being accelerated after 617 concrete piles arrived on site to support the development of the port’s marine facilities.

Head of the Class III UPP Calabai Dompu, Prayitno, said the pile material arrived at Kilo Port aboard the tugboat TB Bening I and barge BG Lautan 1801 from Surabaya on Monday (17/8) at approximately 05.00 WITA.

“The tugboat TB Bening I and barge BG Lautan 1801 from Surabaya arrived at Kilo on 17 August 2026 at 05.00 WITA carrying 617 concrete piles weighing 1,576 tonnes,” he said when contacted in Dompu on Tuesday.

According to him, the arrival of the material marks an important step towards continuing construction of the sea-side facilities at Kilo Port, after earlier stages of work faced constraints in the availability of construction materials.

“The arrival of the pile material is expected to accelerate construction of the wharf facilities so that the entire works can be completed in accordance with the contract target,” he said.

Meanwhile, progress on the land-side works has reached 54.168 percent. With the pile material now available, work on the sea-side facilities is expected to commence immediately and be accelerated to meet the project completion target.

Prayitno said the acceleration of works will be carried out by adding more workers and extending working hours.

“Indeed, additional workers and working hours will be added,” he said.

He said his office is still awaiting direction from the Dompu Regent regarding the implementation of the groundbreaking ceremony for the wharf construction.

A representative of PT Wijaya Inti Nusa Sentosa (WINS), the project contractor, Peter P, said the construction of Kilo Port continues to be monitored by the central government through routine weekly progress reports.

“Every week the construction progress is queried and reported to the central government. Because this is a national strategic project, all works must follow applicable procedures and standards,” he said.

Previously, the procurement of pile material for the construction of Kilo Port had faced constraints after the transport vessel was involved in an accident and the material it was carrying was reported to have sunk in the waters off Madura.

This condition had affected the work stages for the sea-side facilities. However, after the material was re-sent and arrived at Kilo Port, construction is expected to resume promptly.

The Kilo Sea Port construction project is located in Mbuju Village, Kilo District, Dompu Regency, with a contract value of approximately Rp85.1 billion.

The project is a sea transport infrastructure development funded through the central government budget under the coordination of the Ministry of Transportation and implemented by PT Wijaya Inti Nusa Sentosa (WINS) from Surabaya.

Work commenced under contract on 19 February 2026 and is targeted for 100 percent completion on 30 December 2026.

With this acceleration, Kilo Port is expected to strengthen sea transport connectivity while supporting the smooth movement of goods and economic activity for communities in Dompu Regency and surrounding areas.
