Killer's Excuse in Mozza Axillia Murder: He 'Surveyed' the Disposal Site First

Police have uncovered additional facts behind the murder of Mozza Axillia Gunarsa (17), a girl from Bergas whose skeletal remains were found in a ravine near the toll road in Jangli, Semarang. The suspect, identified by the initials MDVA (22), claimed jealousy drove him to kill the victim.

“The suspect admitted there had been an argument beforehand because he was jealous,” said the Head of the PPA-PPO Criminal Investigation Unit at Semarang Police, Commissioner Ni Made Sriniti, as reported by detikJateng on Monday (7/9/2026).

Sriniti explained that the suspect confessed to feeling jealous after opening Mozza’s phone and discovering conversations between the victim and another man.

“He was jealous when they were together. He opened the victim’s phone and saw chats from another man,” she said.

Mozza’s relationship with the suspect began through social media in May 2025. Sriniti stated that Mozza and the suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation in the suspect’s boarding room on 25 June 2025.

“Around 2 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, they argued. It happened in the afternoon towards evening. According to the suspect’s account, the victim hit him first during the argument, and then the suspect became emotional and immediately smothered the victim until she went limp,” she said.

The suspect admitted to panicking when he realised Mozza had gone limp. He left the boarding room twice. He went out to buy food and to look for a place to dispose of the victim.

“He went out to buy food and raffia rope. After that, he came back in and ate. Then he went out again to survey a location, and once he found one, he returned,” she said.

The victim’s limp body was then placed inside a cardboard box. Afterwards, the box was tied up and put into a sack. The suspect then headed to the disposal site he had previously surveyed.

“He carried her himself, placed her on the motorbike, making it look like a package. Then he took her to the place he had surveyed. That evening, after Maghrib, he disposed of her,” she said.
