Killer of Woman Found Bound and Gagged in Malang River Arrested

The perpetrator of the murder of a woman identified by the initials HMZ (17), whose body was discovered with bound hands and a gagged mouth in the Kedung Winong River in Sukopuro Village, Jabung District, Malang Regency, has been arrested by police. The suspect had been hiding in a boarding house in Malang.

Malang Police Chief Muhammad Taat Resdi said the arrest was carried out after police had established the identity and whereabouts of the suspected perpetrator.

“We successfully apprehended the suspect on Saturday evening at his hiding place in a boarding house in Malang city. This arrest was the result of hard work by a joint team that conducted an intensive pursuit since the victim’s identity was revealed,” Taat said.

Following the arrest, the suspect was immediately taken to the Malang Police headquarters for intensive questioning. Police are still investigating the motive and the possible involvement of other parties.

“The examination process is still ongoing. We will fully uncover the perpetrator’s role, motive, and the sequence of events that took place,” he stated.

The victim’s body was discovered on Tuesday, 17 February. When found by local residents, the corpse was already in a state of decomposition on the riverbank with bound hands.
