Killer of Joxzin Member in Bantul Knew Victim; Motive Was a Grudge

Police have revealed the motive behind the killing of a Joxzin member in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The suspect acted on a grudge after taking offence at the victim’s words, according to the Bantul Police’s Public Relations Chief, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, who spoke to detikJogja on Friday, 6 March 2026.

In addition, Rita said that the suspect SS (29) and the victim KYR (36) had previously known each other.

‘In fact, they knew each other, they were friends, acquainted,’ she said.

Regarding whether the suspect is a member of a community organisation (ormas), Rita could not disclose. ‘That (the suspect being a member of an ormas) is still being investigated,’ she added.

Previously reported, police eventually arrested the perpetrators of the murder of a Joxzin member in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The two perpetrators were arrested in Sedayu this morning.

Public Relations Head Rita Hidayanto said that after investigation including witness interviews and analysis of CCTV footage, police succeeded in identifying the perpetrators. Subsequently, police arrested them.

‘Today around 04.00 WIB the Bantul Police’s Mobile Detective Unit, together with the Jatanras Opsnal Team from the DIY Regional Police and the Sedayu Sector’s Reskrim, managed to secure the suspects in Sedayu,’ she told reporters in Bantul, on Thursday (5 March 2026).

The two offenders are initially SS (29) and FS (22). They are both residents of Gamping, Sleman. ‘SS’s role was the executioner and he has been named a suspect. FS’s role was the one who accompanied SS; FS is currently being questioned,’ she said.
