Terminal Kijing PTP Nonpetikemas recorded positive operational performance throughout the first half of 2026, posting total throughput of 3.27 million tonnes, an 88.25% increase compared with 1.74 million tonnes in the same period of 2025. The growth reflects rising logistics activity in West Kalimantan and strengthens Terminal Kijing’s role as a strategic logistics hub supporting the smooth distribution of commodities in western Indonesia.

The performance was driven primarily by growth in dry bulk and liquid bulk commodities. Dry bulk was the largest contributor, with realisation of 1.88 million tonnes, up 97.18% compared with 955,500 tonnes in the first half of 2025. Meanwhile, liquid bulk reached 1.30 million tonnes, an increase of 77.48% compared with 732,900 tonnes in the same period the previous year.

Growth was also recorded in other commodities. Bag cargo rose 30.16% from 51,420 tonnes to 66,900 tonnes, while general cargo grew significantly from 1,380 tonnes to 25,900 tonnes.

President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas, Indra Hidayat Sani, said the throughput growth at Terminal Kijing in the first half of 2026 was the result of the company’s consistency in carrying out operational transformation and improving service quality.

“The throughput growth at Terminal Kijing in the first half of 2026 shows that the operational transformation we have implemented has been able to increase productivity and strengthen service quality in real terms. Terminal Kijing has a strategic role in supporting logistics connectivity in West Kalimantan, so we will continue to push for increased service capacity, operational efficiency, and the implementation of sustainability principles so that this terminal becomes increasingly competitive and able to provide added value for service users and the regional economy,” said Indra Hidayat Sani.

Throughout the first half of 2026, PTP Nonpetikemas also strengthened operational support aspects through improving human resource competencies and reinforcing the occupational safety culture. These measures were taken to ensure that productivity gains go hand in hand with the reliability and sustainability of terminal operations.

Branch Manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Pontianak Branch, Suwanda, said the improvement in Terminal Kijing’s operational performance was the result of synergy among all company personnel, service users, and stakeholders in the operational area.

“The achievement in the first half of 2026 is the result of synergy among all company personnel in maintaining operational productivity, improving service reliability, and strengthening relationships with service users. We continue to focus on optimising loading and unloading processes, improving HR competencies through certification programmes, and reinforcing the occupational safety culture so that performance growth can be maintained sustainably,” said Suwanda.

One of the company’s focuses from January to June 2026 was strengthening workforce competencies through a daily worker certification programme. The programme was implemented to ensure that operational workers have competency standards that meet terminal requirements, so that productivity and service quality can continue to be improved.

In the field of occupational safety, the company consistently implements the PTP Peduli K3 programme, which focuses on improving the safety culture, compliance with operational standards, and strengthening workers’ awareness of occupational health and safety aspects. The programme is part of the company’s commitment to creating safe, reliable, and sustainable terminal operations.

In line with the development of Terminal Kijing, Pelindo Regional 2 has also continued to improve services in the area as one of the company’s strategic working regions.

General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Pontianak, Kalbar Yanto, said that since its inauguration on 10 June 2026, Terminal Kijing has served eight container ship calls on two routes: an ocean-going service on the Kijing–Pasir Gudang route via MMSS 2711 and a domestic service on the Kijing–Jakarta route via WGM 256 T.

“Container throughput to date has reached 1,029 boxes, with domestic container services accounting for 85% and ocean-going services 15%,” said Kalbar Yanto.

The growth momentum in the first half of 2026 is a positive indicator for the future development of Terminal Kijing. With infrastructure support that continues to be optimised, improved service quality, and strengthened competencies and occupational safety, Terminal Kijing is optimistic it can maintain the growth trend in the second half of 2026 while strengthening its contribution to national logistics efficiency and regional economic development.
