Kidney transplantation is one of the most effective replacement therapies for improving quality of life in patients with end-stage chronic kidney failure. This was disclosed by internal medicine specialist Dr. Lydia Dorothea Simatupang, Sp.PD, Subsp. G.H. (K), FINASIM, serving as Renal Health Consultant, during a health seminar entitled “Optimal Living with Healthy Kidneys: Medical Strategy, Lifestyle, and Long-Term Monitoring.”

However, Lydia emphasised that the success of this therapy does not end at the operating table but depends greatly on comprehensive long-term management. “Support from a multidisciplinary medical team and active involvement of patients and their families in maintaining a healthy lifestyle are also important factors in preserving transplanted kidney function and preventing long-term complications,” said Lydia during an event held by PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk to commemorate World Kidney Day 2026.

She added that other crucial factors include adherence to immunosuppressive therapy and regular control of risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes. To complement the medical aspects, Bena Zaira, S.Si., M.Farm.Klin., Product Specialist at Prodia, highlighted the vital role of laboratory monitoring after transplantation. Parameters such as kidney function tests, lipid profiles, and additional biomarkers are essential to help doctors detect potential complications earlier before clinical symptoms appear.

“Regular laboratory monitoring enables medical staff to evaluate patient conditions more comprehensively and adjust treatment to keep kidney function optimal,” explained Bena. Through this seminar, Prodia strengthens collaboration with patient communities and kidney health advocates as strategic partners. This effort aims to increase literacy about the importance of early detection and continuous health monitoring, particularly for individuals who have undergone transplantation and those with high risk.

As a concrete step, throughout March 2026 Prodia is launching the “ProHealthy Kidney” programme. This programme offers a comprehensive screening package that includes creatinine, Cystatin-C, urine albumin-creatinine ratio, and lipid profiles at special prices to support the public in independently and proactively monitoring their kidney health.
