They traversed Jalan Jakarta, Jalan Supratman, and Jalan Diponegoro, finishing in front of Gedung Sate. Thousands of people lined the route from late afternoon into the evening to witness the cultural procession.
The procession was an initiative by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to strengthen Sunda identity and to provide historical education to the public.
The event was led by Dedi and 27 regional heads from across West Java, including Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, Raja Karaton Sumedang Larang Sri Radya HRI Lukman Soemadisoeria, Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir, and other regents and mayors. In the procession, Dedi underscored the meaning of the Mahkota Binokasih carried to Gedung Sate.
“It is authentic; not a replica. Although Sumedang has a replica, this one is 100 per cent authentic. This is what we want to convey: Sunda or West Java has a rich culture dating back to ancient times,” Dedi said in a written statement on Tuesday (19 May 2026).
Meanwhile, Bandung Mayor Farhan lauded the trust placed in Bandung City, including Kiara Artha Park as the starting point for the cultural procession.
“We began with a bold move, namely Bandung City becoming the culmination of Milangkala Tatar Sunda. It has now reached 27 cities and regencies, and ends in Bandung. We will ensure the event runs smoothly, safely, and leaves a lasting impression on the people of Bandung,” Farhan said.
The peak of the procession featured the royal chariot Kijagarasa bearing the Mahkota Binokasih, which drew the eyes of spectators along the route to the final area in front of Gedung Sate. The Mahkota Binokasih is a gold crown from the Sunda Pajajaran kingdom, weighing 18.8 karats.
