Jakarta (ANTARA) - Harry Yanto, VP Operations of Kia Sales Indonesia, has stated the company’s desire to bring the environmentally friendly Kia Carens EV to the Indonesian market in November. “We see an opportunity where the government provides incentives for electric vehicles with high TKDN,” he said in Jakarta on Monday (27/4). He explained that the Kia Carens EV will use domestically produced batteries, enabling the vehicle’s Local Content Requirement (TKDN) to reach 80 percent. “The majority of the battery will use domestic production, so TKDN can reach 80 percent. This provides a distinct advantage in utilising electric vehicle incentives in Indonesia,” he added. Harry noted that the electrified Carens version comes with adjustments to the suspension and steering system. “With the EV version, fine tuning will certainly be different. From suspension, steering, to the driving feel, it will be adjusted to the needs of electric vehicles,” he said. The Kia Carens EV has already been launched in India under the name Carens Clavis EV, available with battery pack options of 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. According to the company, the 51.4 kWh battery enables the vehicle to travel up to 490 km on a single charge, while the 42 kWh battery offers a range of 404 km. The electric variant of the Kia Carens is also equipped with safety features including airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), brake assist system, rear parking sensors, and disc brakes on all wheels.
