Medan (ANTARA) - A total of 24 districts and cities in North Sumatra Province received the ‘Informative’ rating at the 2026 North Sumatra Information Openness (KI Sumut) Awards, held at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office on Tuesday.

“There are 24 districts and cities that received the Informative rating,” said Abdul Haris Nasution, chairman of the North Sumatra Provincial Information Commission, after the awards ceremony, which involved 211 public bodies across the province.

In addition, three districts were rated ‘Moving Towards Informative’, five districts and cities were rated ‘Not Informative’, and one district was recorded as ‘Did Not Participate’.

Among the areas rated Informative were Serdang Bedagai, South Tapanuli, Dairi and Karo regencies, as well as Pematangsiantar and Medan.

In the category for regional government agencies (OPD) within the North Sumatra provincial administration, 12 agencies received the Informative rating.

“One was rated ‘Fairly Informative’, 11 ‘Not Informative’ and seven ‘Did Not Participate’. The North Sumatra Communication and Informatics Office was among the agencies rated Informative,” he said.

In the category for the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), seven public bodies received the Informative rating, 10 were rated ‘Moving Towards Informative’, four ‘Fairly Informative’ and 13 ‘Not Informative’.

Among regional government-owned enterprises (BUMD) owned by the North Sumatra provincial government, two public bodies received the Informative rating, three were rated ‘Not Informative’ and one ‘Did Not Participate’.

“Two BUMDs received the Informative rating: PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Utara (Bank Sumut) and the Tirtanadi Regional Public Company (Perumda),” he said.

Abdul Haris said he hoped the results of the 2026 KI Sumut Awards would serve as an evaluation for all public bodies and strengthen their commitment to providing information that is accurate, regularly updated and easily accessible to the public.

North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya stressed that public information openness must become part of the working culture of all public bodies, rather than merely a way to meet administrative obligations or win an award.

“Openness of information must bring tangible benefits to the public while strengthening public trust in the government,” Surya said after attending the 2026 KI Sumut Awards ceremony.
