KI DKI Urges Public Bodies to Implement Information Transparency
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Information Commission (KI DKI) is urging public bodies that have achieved the ‘Informative’ distinction to implement public information transparency in a tangible way through the establishment of ‘Informative Public Body Zones’ within their workspaces.
Ferid Nugroho, Commissioner for Education, Socialisation, and Advocacy (ESA) of KI DKI Jakarta, stated that the ‘Informative’ status should not merely remain an administrative award but must be realised through information services that are easily accessible to the community.
“The Informative predicate is more than just an award. One way to implement this is by presenting the Informative Public Body Zone as an identity for public information services in every public body that has received the Informative distinction,” Ferib said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the Informative Public Body Zone is not merely an information board or a visual aid, but a symbol of a public body’s commitment to fulfilling the mandate of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure.
The existence of these zones, he added, makes it easier for the public to identify the location of the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID), information request procedures, and the rights of the community to obtain public information.
To ensure this implementation is progressing, KI DKI Jakarta has verified 162 reports regarding the installation of Informative Public Body Zone visual aids received from various public bodies. The results showed that 153 reports came from public bodies with an ‘Informative’ rating, while nine reports originated from public bodies that have not yet achieved this distinction.
Ferid noted that monitoring results indicate a gap remains between achieving the ‘Informative’ status and its practical implementation on the ground. Of the 189 public bodies that received the ‘Informative’ distinction for 2025, only 80.95 per cent have installed the Informative Public Body Zone.
“This finding serves as an important evaluation material for the Information Commission. Public bodies that have obtained the Informative predicate must serve as role models in building a culture of public information transparency,” he said.
He added that the implementation of the Informative Public Body Zone will become one of the indicators in the Electronic Monitoring and Evaluation (E-Monev) of Public Information Disclosure in the next period to measure the consistency of public bodies in maintaining the quality of information services.
The primary goal of this evaluation is not only to increase the number of public bodies with an ‘Informative’ rating but to ensure that the public receives information services that are fast, easily accessible, transparent, and accountable.
