Khofifah urges teachers to fully guide ADEM students to become a superior generation

Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has asked teachers and headmasters to provide maximum guidance to 152 students of the 2026 Papua Secondary Education Affirmation Programme (ADEM) while they study in the province, so they can grow into the best generation. “They are all our sons and daughters, so the task of the headmasters and teachers is to guide them to become the best generation, to become the pride of Indonesia and the Land of Papua,” Khofifah said in Malang City, East Java, on Sunday. Data from the East Java Provincial Education Office details that the 152 students consist of 15 students from West Papua, 30 students from Central Papua, 35 students from South Papua, 40 students from Highland Papua, and 32 students from Jayapura. The students are scheduled to begin the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) on Monday (13/7). Khofifah asked the hundreds of students to maximise this opportunity to enrich their knowledge and experience, so they can achieve their aspirations. She added that the students must be able to develop into professional figures who in the future will become drivers of regional and national development. “Always love the Land of Papua and study earnestly in East Java, then return to build Papua and safeguard the Red and White. If Papua advances, Indonesia becomes stronger,” she said. Meanwhile, Velix Wanggai, Executive Committee Chair of the Papua Development Acceleration Authority, conveyed that East Java has demonstrated consistency in supporting the improvement of Papuan human resources through the ADEM programme. Velix stated that the opportunity obtained must be maximised by the students, as it will become important capital in preparing a superior and competitive young Papuan generation. Furthermore, he assessed that East Java not only has advantages in education quality but also possesses cultural wealth and strong national values, which will add to the experience for all ADEM programme participants. “Papuan children studying here not only gain knowledge in the classroom but are also educated to build character, mentality, spirituality, national insight, and experience a cultural atmosphere, brotherhood, and the spirit of development,” Velix said.
