Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Central Board of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has urged all female cadres under Muslimat NU to consistently nurture the tradition of gotong royong. Speaking in Yogyakarta on Sunday, Khofifah stated that the 80th anniversary (Harlah) of Muslimat NU adopts a national theme comprising three elements: first, nurturing traditions; second, strengthening independence; and third, soothing civilisation. These three items are promoted across all Harlah events starting from 29 March 2026. The Governor of East Java explained that the traditions of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah first encompass moderation, then tolerance, and justice. “Patterns like this remind and recall that there is a tradition of goodness that we must strengthen and nurture,” said the former Minister of Social Affairs. She added that the next theme is strengthening independence, which for Muslimat NU forms part of the strength in building the self-reliance of this Islamic social-religious women’s community organisation. “Alhamdulillah, we now have around 36 million members, and they survive and thrive with improvements in our education services at PAUD and TK levels, as permitted by NU, as well as health services, economic services, and da’wah services,” she said. Furthermore, Khofifah continued, soothing civilisation, with discussions on this topic having been echoed since two years ago. These discussions cover how civilisation operates at the household level, community level, local, regional, national, and global scales. “This includes how violence against women, against children, and against society is something we must build a collective penetration process for, so that everything becomes calm, cool, peaceful; these are the patterns we want to implement,” she said.
