Khofifah: Public Communication Must Bridge Government Policy and the People
Surabaya (ANTARA) - The East Java Provincial Government has received an award for Best Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Communication Performance at the Indonesia DEI & ESG Awards (IDEAS) 2026.
“Alhamdulillah, this award serves as motivation for us to continue delivering public communication that is not only informative, but also capable of building trust, encouraging public participation, and strengthening sustainability values in every policy and development programme in East Java,” said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa in a statement in Surabaya on Saturday.
The East Java Provincial Government won the special category award for “Institution with the Best DEI and ESG Communication Performance on Social Media, Choice of PR Indonesia” at The 5th Indonesia DEI & ESG Awards (IDEAS) 2026.
Khofifah said social media has become a strategic channel for the government to convey information quickly, accurately, openly, and accessibly to the public amid accelerating digital transformation.
“Good communication is not merely about conveying information, but also ensuring that the public understands, feels the benefits, and is involved in every development process. This is the essence of impactful public communication,” said Khofifah.
She explained that the award also recognises the East Java Provincial Government’s efforts to integrate DEI and ESG principles into its public communication strategy, particularly through various government social media channels.
According to Khofifah, values of diversity, equality, inclusivity, social care, good governance, and environmental sustainability have become an inseparable part of various development programmes in East Java.
She added that quality public communication is an important foundation for building public trust in the government.
Therefore, communication innovation will continue to be strengthened in line with developments in information technology and the growing public need for credible, easily understood, and accountable information.
“Going forward, we will continue to strengthen public communication that is humane, inclusive, and data-based, while making optimal use of digital technology. Public communication must be able to bring hope, build collaboration, and serve as positive energy in realising an East Java that is advanced, fair, prosperous, excellent, and sustainable,” said Khofifah.
